According to Plutarch, this statue at Delphi depicted Philopoimen in the act of slaying the tyrant Machanidas ( Plu:Phil_10'7-8 ).


The league of the Achaeans honours Philopoimen of Megalopolis, the son of Kraugis, on account of his virtue and his goodwill towards them.
