ORDER FOR A SHIPLOAD OF WHEAT, WITH GUARDS

To Ammonios. Year 18, of Epeiph 14.     To . . ., antigrapheus of the stores near Tilothis. Load tor transport to Alexandria for the royal account, according to the instructions of Diogenes, syngenēs, strategos and in charge of the revenues, aboard the ship of 1,200 artabas capacity of Zabdion son of Artemidoros which has been designated as under orders by [Apollophanes], prostates, and Eudemos, secretary of the Hippodromitai from Memphis, [corn, which is fresh,] unadulterated and sieved; it is to be measured with a measure checked against the official bronze measure, using a valid levelling rod; five guards {phylakitai} are to travel on board, from the class of cleruchs, men who have provided good guarantees, and the sample, sealed in unbaked earthenware jars, will be [given over to their care] and, with the consent of the sailors on board, they shall escort the load, as instructed by the official who controls the grain supply on the quay: 1,200 artabas of wheat. Supply receipts and counter-receipts [for them as is fitting].
