OGIS: 52

A LIST OF RELIGIOUS SITES AT PTOLEMAIS

Greek text:   OGIS_52
Date:   ? 253 B.C.
Format:   see key to translations

In contrast to the purely Greek character of the other inscriptions of this period from Ptolemais, this inscription shows that there was widespread worship of native Egyptian gods within the neighbourhood of the city.

. . . in Heptakomia the temple and its appurtenances; the precinct and the adjacent shrine of Isis and the adjacent bare land and the altar outside the city wall to the god Harbaktis and Hierax {Horus}, . . . [and] to Isis and the other gods who share the same temple.   In the 33rd year, on the 3rd day of Phamenoth.
