Chrysogonos is mentioned by the historian Polybios as a friend of king Philip V. In 218 B.C, he was one of the Macedonian commanders who protected Thessaly against the Aetolians ( Polyb. 5.17.6 ). By 214 B.C. his influence with the king seems to have been declining ( Polyb. 7.11.6 ). See A.B. Tataki, "Macedonian Edessa: Prosopography and Onomasticon", p. 78, no. 316 ( PDF ).

When the tagoi were :

On the 16th day of Hippodromios, when Mnasias was agoranomos.

Since Chrysogonos son of Pyrrhikos, a Macedonian 10 from Edessa, has been a friend and benefactor of the city of Larisa on every occasion, and has been seen to do whatever is advantageous for the city; therefore, as proposed by the tagoi, it was decreed by the state that the city shall grant to Chrysogonos citizenship and the right to own all kinds of property, both for himself and for his descendants, 20 in the same manner as other citizens of Larisa; and he shall choose whichever tribe he wishes. This decree shall be valid for all time; the treasurers shall inscribe it on a stone stele and set it up in the Kerdoion, and they shall provide money for the cost of doing this.
