RECEIPT FOR ANNUAL OFFERING TO A MONASTERY

Date:   A.D. 581.

The 6th and pious year of the reign of our most godlike master and greatest benefactor Flavius Tiberius Constantinus the eternal Augustus and Imperator, the 2nd year of the consulship of our said most pious master, Tubi 7, 14th indiction. To the heirs of Gerontius of learned memory, the late advocate, through Anoup, their most admirable steward, from Colluthus, monk of the desert monastery of the village Berku, son of George. I have received in full satisfaction from your excellencies the customary holy offering given for the said monastery, being the instalments due to me in the past 18th indiction fully paid, namely six gold solidi on the private standard, total 6 gold sol. on the private standard, and in acknowledgement of the offering I have made this acknowledgement, which is valid, written in a single copy, and in answer to the formal question I have given my assent.
