THE DELPHIANS HONOUR THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA

Greek text:   Sylloge_404
Date:     276 B.C.
Format:   see key to translations

It has been suggested that this decree is connected to the launch of the Ptolemaieia ( Syll_390 ). Envoys were no doubt sent from Alexandria to Delphi in order announce this festival; see P.M.Fraser, "Two Hellenistic Inscriptions from Delphi" ( Persée ).

Gods.   The Delphians granted precedence in consulting the oracle to the Alexandrians from Egypt, in the reign of Ptolemaios the son of king Ptolemaios, when Aristagoras was archon, and the councillors were Charixenos, Xenon and Theudoridas.
