The position of this decree, immediately after the decree in honour of Timokrates, the hieromnemon from Chios, strongly suggests that the privileges were granted at the request of Timokrates. Different privileges had been granted to the Isthmos-Nemea guild of the Dionysiac artists half a century earlier ( Syll_460 ).
This also was written: "In the year when Lykopos was general for the fourth time, it was resolved [by the Aetolians] to grant [security] and inviolability to the artists of Dionysos who are enrolled [in Ionia and] on the Hellespont, the same as for those who travel to the Isthmos and Nemea."
