Throughout his reign Antiochos IV maintained good relations with the city of Athens. He was also a generous benefactor of the island of Delos, which at that time was under Athenian control; see C.Habicht, "Athens from Alexander to Antony", page 252 ( Google Books ).


This statue of king Antiochos [Epiphanes], the son of king [Antiochos] the Great, was dedicated to Delian Apollo by Alexandros the son of (?) Apollodoros . . . on account of his virtue and his goodwill towards the people of Athens.

Boēthos son of Athanaion [made] the statue.
