Perseus married the Syrian princess Laodike in 178/7 B.C. The bride was brought to Macedonia on a Rhodian ship, which enabled Perseus to establish a closer relationship with Rhodes, as well as with the kingdom of Syria ( Polyb_25.4'8-9 ).
The people of Delos dedicated this statue of queen Laodike, daughter of king Seleukos and wife of king Perseus, on account of her piety towards the temple and her goodwill towards the people of Delos.
