Lucius Antonius, the brother of Marcus Antonius, was acting as propraetor in the province of Asia at the time of the outbreak of the Roman civil war. A similar inscription in his honour has been found at Ephesos; see G.H.R.Horsley, "New Documents Illustrating Early Christianity", p. 112 ( Google Books ).
The people [honoured] Lucius Antonius [son of] Marcus, [pro-]quaestor and propraetor, [their] patron and saviour, who was administering justice [in the] province in an honest and popular and holy manner.
Menophilos son of Menogenes made the statue.
