This simple list, inscribed at a later date, reveals that one man - Medeios - was eponymous archon for three consecutive years before the start of the First Mithridatic War, followed by a year of anarchy in 88/7 B.C. In the list, 'anarchy' is used in its literal sense- there was no archon - but the word was also used by some Athenians to describe the highly irregular situation in the previous year; see F.Santangelo, "Sulla, the Elites and the Empire", p. 37 ( Google Books ).
